Chinese paper maker breaks ground in the US
Shandong Tranlin breaks ground in Virginia for tissue and fertilizer manufacturing facility.
The chinese pulp and paper producer, Shandong Tranlin Paper, officially broke ground on october 22 for its first U S operation, a USD 2 billion manufacturing facility in Chesterfield, Virginia.
“This is the largest greenfield project ever done by a Chinese company in the United States of America, " the state governor Terry McAuliffe said during the ceremony at the site of the future plant in Virginia.
Shandomng Tranlin will buy agricultural byproducts from farmers, such as leftover wheat and corn stalks after harvest, to make paper products including tissue and tableware. In addition, the factory will produce humus-based organic fertilizer products using residues from the papermaking process.
