Metsä Fibre sign letter of Intent with Sweco

Metsä Fibre signed a letter of intent for the detailed engineering of its planned bioproduct mill with Sweco Industry and Sweco Rakennetekniikka Oy.

Final delivery contracts will be signed if Metsä Fibre decides to build the EUR 1,1 billion mill. If the prerequisites for the investment are met, the decision on the construction of the bioproduct mill will be made this spring.

According to the letter of intent, Sweco and Sweco Rakennetekniikka will be responsible for layout, mechanical and piping engineering as well as civil engineering. In the project, Neste Jacobs Oy will be the partner for Sweco.

The bio-product mill is planned in the mill area in Äänekoski, Finland. When materialized it would be the largest ever investment in the forest industry in Finland.
