Södra sells its Follafoss pulp mill

Mayr-Melnhof Karton is acquiring all shares in Södra Cell Folla and consequently Södra’s pulp mill in Follafoss in Norway.
In 2012 Södra Cell took the decision to divest the Follafoss pulp mill. Production at the mill ceased at the end of October/beginning of November 2012. Discussions about selling the mill got under way just before Christmas, a declaration of intent was issued at the end of December and an agreement has now been reached with Mayr Melnhof Karton.

Södra’s pulp mill in Follafoss manufactures CTMP pulp and has a capacity of just over 100 000 tpy.

The Mayr-Melnhof Group, headquartered in Vienna, is the largest producer of coated recycled cardboard with a growing position in virgin fibre-based board as well as the leading European manufacturer of folding cartons.
